Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data MathematiX collects, why, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect the minimum needed to run a synced notebook, and your notes belong to you.
1. What we collect
- Account data — your email address, username, and a securely hashed password (we never see or store the plain password).
- Notebook content — the classes, notes, equations, sketches, and files you create, stored so they sync across your devices.
- Technical basics — device/browser type and timestamps in server logs, used for security and debugging.
What we don't do: no ads, no selling or renting your data, no tracking you across other websites, and no training AI models on your notes without explicit opt-in.
2. How your data is used
- To provide the Service: authentication, real-time sync, and backups.
- To power features you invoke: when you ask Lemma AI about a note, the relevant note content is sent to our AI provider to generate the answer, and isn't used for advertising.
- To communicate essentials: confirmation emails, password resets, and important service notices.
3. Where it lives
Your data is stored with Supabase (managed PostgreSQL, encrypted in transit and at rest). Access is enforced row-by-row at the database level: your account can only ever read or write its own rows. A local copy is also kept in your browser so the app works offline.
4. Cookies & local storage
We use local storage for your session token, theme preference, and offline copies of your notes. No third-party advertising or analytics cookies.
5. Your rights & controls
- Access / export — export any note as JSON from the app; request a full export by email.
- Correction — update your username or email from your account.
- Deletion — delete your account to permanently remove your profile and synced content (backups purge within 30 days).
- If you're in the EEA/UK, you also have GDPR rights (portability, restriction, objection, complaint to your supervisory authority).
6. Children
The Service isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
7. Changes
If this policy changes materially we'll notify you by email or in-app before the change takes effect.
